Start with an email address and retrieve the available profile and contact data. This example uses Contact Enrichment, which runs as an asynchronous job.

1. Set up your API key

You need a Waterfall API key with Contact Enrichment enabled. Contact the team for access and pricing. Requests use your account’s configured rates. Store the key in an environment variable in your terminal:
Keep the key on your server or in your local environment. See Authentication for key management.

2. Submit an email address

Replace person@company.com with the contact you want to look up. This request leaves phone enrichment off.
The response gives you a job_id and start_date. An illustrative response:
Save the returned job_id. It identifies this lookup; the contact data arrives when the job finishes.

3. Retrieve the result

Set WATERFALL_JOB_ID to the ID from your response, then call the Finder:
Read status before using the output: A successful response might look like this (fictional contact; other fields omitted):
Available profile fields can include the person’s name, role, location, employment history, and email information. Use the Contact Enrichment Finder reference for the full response shape. Keep missing fields unresolved rather than filling them with guesses.

4. Connect the result to your workflow

Your application decides which fields to store or use. For a signup workflow, read signup enrichment. For existing records, read CRM enrichment. For automated delivery, add a webhook_url to the launch request. You can also pass custom_fields to carry your own record identifier. See the launcher reference and Webhook Verification.

Other ways to start

  • Have a LinkedIn identifier or a name and company domain? Contact Enrichment supports those input strategies too.
  • Need people at a company rather than a known contact? Choose an API to compare Prospector and Search Contact.
  • Working with an agent? Agent Skills covers direct calls and reusable integration code.
  • Got an error? Check Errors for validation, access, quota, and rate-limit guidance.
